Team USA Junior National Team Day One Victorian Championships Highlights

By Nick Brunelli

MELBOURNE, Australia, January 4. THE first day of the meet is now over. Both teams did a great job transferring all the energy they had into some great swims. There were many highlights throughout the day, even in the morning.

These kids really like to race and it showed with great determination to get their hands on the wall. I was able to watch a fair amount of the meet in between my three races, and from what I saw, these kids are taking pride in the country they have on their caps. They are showing respect to everyone around them and great sportsmanship.

Tomorrow should be just like today, in that the team will swim fast. The question is how fast. The team is going to have to find a way to deal with the emotional highs and lows a long meet always has. The staff will be on top of them to make sure this is worked out. Tomorrow for me is the 100 free and the 50 back final! I am very excited to see what I can do!

Outstanding swims:
Laure Harrington 100 fly: 1:00.41
Curtis (Robert) Lovelace 100 Breast: 104.36

Outstanding relays:
Women "A" 400 free relay: 3:46.83
Men "A" 400 Medley relay: 3.44.91
Both "B" relays!

Results: 2008 Victorian Championships – (01-04-2008 – 01-15-2008)
