Team USA Diving Prepares for World University Games

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 25. ELEVEN divers from seven schools will represent the USA at the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, from July 4-10.

Purdue University leads the roster with three divers on the squad, including 2009 U.S. national champion David Colturi (Sylvania, Ohio). Kara Cook (The Woodlands, Texas) and Ashley Karnes (Bloomington, Ind.) also dive at Purdue.

Two other Big Ten schools will be represented. Indiana University's Brittney Feldman (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Amy Korthauer (Naperville, Ill.) and 2009 U.S. national champion Sean Moore (Englewood, Colo.) of Ohio State will compete for the USA as well.

Rounding out the roster are 2009 U.S. national champion Abby Johnston (Columbus, Ohio) of Duke; Dwight Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) of Stanford; Audra Egenolf (Indianapolis, Ind.) of SMU; and Daniel Mazzaferro (Cheshire, Conn.) and Kelly Marx (Overland Park, Kan.) of Auburn.

Mazzaferro and Moore were members of USA's 2007 World University Games team that competed in Thailand. Mazzaferro placed fifth in synchronized platform and was 23rd on platform; Moore was sixth in synchronized 3-meter.

Divers were selected based on finishes at the 2009 Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships. Colturi won two national titles, placing first on men's 10-meter and synchronized 10-meter with Moore; Johnston won the national title on women's 3-meter.

July 6: Women's platform (Cook, Egenolf, Korthauer)
July 7: Men's 1-meter (Colturi, Dumais); Women's synchronized platform (Cook/Egenolf)
July 8: Women's 3-meter (Egenolf, Feldman, Johnston)
July 9: Men's platform (Colturi, Moore, Mazzaferro)
July 10: Women's synchronized 3-meter (Feldman/Johnston); Men's synchronized platform (Colturi/Moore)
