Tallahassee’s Stephanie Holmes Stays Local With Verbal to Florida State

NEW COMMIT: Florida State has received a verbal commitment from in-state freestyler Stephanie Holmes. Holmes is a soon to be senior at Chiles High School in Tallahassee. She does her club swimming with Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club.

Holmes told Swimming World,

“I am so excited to announce that I have verbally committed to swim and study at Florida State University!! I’m so thankful for my coaches for always challenging me, my teammates for pushing me and my friends and family for always believing in me. I’m so grateful to have opportunity to swim with such an amazing team! GO NOLES!! >–> Phil 4:13″

She is a freestyler who gets better with distance. Her best SCY times are:

200 Free 1:50.40
500 Free 4:49.39
1000 Free 9:50.45
1650 Free 16:33.10

At the 2016 Florida 3A State championships Holmes was runner up in the 200 freestyle, stopping the clock in her lifetime best time. She followed that up with a second place finish in the 500 freestyle.

At the 2017 ACC Championships Holmes would have finished 11th in the 1650, scoring a nice 16 points for the quickly rising Seminoles. She also would have been a 500 freestyle C finalist.
