Tallahassee’s Cece Williams Makes the Call ‘ She’s a Virginia Cavalier

TALLAHASSEE, Florida, October 6. THE third-ranked swimmer in Florida in the Class of 2014 is off the board as Area Tallahassee’s Cece Williams has decided to commit to the Virginia Cavaliers.

Williams, the overall 36th-ranked recruit in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com (http://www.collegeswimming.com/swimmer/171393/), is a distance stalwart from Area Tallahassee who also preps at Lawton Chiles High in Florida.

Williams turned in her best lifetime efforts at the 2013 Florida Spring Senior Championships with top times in the 500-yard free (4:43.14) and 1000-yard free (9:44.81). She also has some relay ability with a 1:47.45 in the 200-yard free from the 2012 Florida State 2A High School Championships, and can even offer up a 2:03.15 in the 200-yard IM to give UVA some flexibility in terms of how to deploy her in dual meet competition.

She’s also pretty strong in the long course events. She owns a 4:15.78 in the 400-meter free and a 2:02.51 in the 200-meter free. She also clocked an 8:53.90 in the 800-meter free, all at the 2013 Speedo Long Course Junior Nationals this summer.

That’s head coach Augie Busch’s biggest commitment on the women’s side since claiming the services of No. 75 Hanna House of Carmel Swim Club earlier this week.
