T2 Aquatics Has Strong Outing at Al Soltis Memorial Meet

CLEARWATER, Florida, January 19. AT the Al Soltis Memorial Meet this weekend, T2 Aquatics put together a strong meet. The competition took place with short course yard prelims, and long course meter finals.

Elizabeth Pelton blasted a top time of 1:50.07 in the 200-yard backstroke . That swim stood less than a second back of her American-record second-ranked lifetime best of 1:49.16 from the Maryland Swimming Championships while swimming for NBAC last March. The time stands seventh all time in the women's 200-yard back performance charts.

She returned in finals with a winning time of 2:08.79 in the 200-meter backstroke, besting her top time last year of 2:08.99 from the Pan American Games that ranked her 16th in the world. Her effort this weekend would have put her 14th last year.

She also clocked a 54.86 in the 100-yard fly, and 1:00.76 in the 100-meter fly. Meanwhile, in the 100 breaststroke, Pelton posted a 1:02.78 in prelims, but scratched finals. On the final day, she clocked a 49.52 to top 100-yard free qualifying, before scratching finals.

Pelton also led a scorching fast 200-meter medley relay for T2 as Pelton, Karie Haglund, Anne-Marie Botek and Erika Erndl won the event in 1:54.51. That swim finished just .01 seconds off what was the top time in the year last year when Germany clocked a 1:54.50 at its Duel in the Pool with Great Britain. T2 would have beaten Great Britain's second-ranked time of 1:54.93.
