Szabo Named Patriot League Swimmer of the Week

WASHINTON, D.C., December 12/ AMERICAN University breaststroker Dominick Szabo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) has been named Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week after splashing to wins in the 100-200 breaststrokes and setting DeNuzio Pool, Tiger Invitational and Patriot League records at last weekend's Princeton Invitational in New Jersey.

The AU junior also made the NCAA automatic cut for the 100 breaststroke at Princeton.

Szabo cruised past his next competitor in the 100 breastroke by 2-1/2 seconds, winning in 54.14. He set those records with his 54.00 in the preliminaries. That time broke an 11-year-old Patriot League record of 54.44.

Szabe was also first in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.00) and was second in the 200 IM with a 1:49.90.

The junior was a 2002 All-Patriot League selection in the 100- and 200 breastroke and helped American's 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays claim first at the Patriot League Championships.
