Australian authorities said they may not have time to carry out full terrorist checks on all workers and volunteers expected to help run the 2000 Olympic Games. The Australian Security Intelligence Organization would be asked to provide security clearances for up to 80,000 people who will be working on various aspects of the games, but doing full background checks on them all would not be possible.
