Swiss Long Course Championships: Dominik Meichtry Doubles

GENEVA, Switzerland, March 11. THE first day of action at the Swiss Long Course Championships held in Geneva featured a double from Dominik Meichtry.

Meichtry began the first night of swimming with a winning time of 4:00.27 in the men's 400 free. He cruised through the event, with Alexandre Liesse clocking a 4:00.82 to take second. Simon Rabold wound up third in 4:04.63. Cherelle Oestringer won the women's 400 free in 4:20.09, while Annick van Westendorp took second in 4:20.52. Iris Matthey placed third in 4:28.82.

Christian Schneiter topped the men's 50 fly in 24.97, while Nico Van Duijn touched second in 25.29. Adrien Perez finished third in 25.36. Maria Ugolkova claimed the women's 50 fly in a touchout triumph over Melanie Schweiger and Laetitia Perez, who tied for second with matching 28.19s.

Jonathan Massacand captured the men's 100 back title in 56.60, while Adrien Perez finished second in 58.64. Elijah Stolz wound up third in 59.32. Laetitia Perez turned her second-place finish in the 50 fly into gold in the women's 100 back with a 1:04.14. Martina van Berkel took second in 1:40.76, while Laurence Fedrigo picked up third in 1:05.89.

Yannick Kaser paced the men's 200 breast in 2:18.59, while Kilian Bossard earned second in 2:19.52. Yves Mauron finished third in 2:20.05. Marina Ribi followed in the women's 200 breast with a 2:32.53 for the win. Stephanie Spahn took second in 2:38.92, while Corinne Meier claimed third in 2:40.87.

In relays, Meichtry, Liess, Maximilien Bon and Simon Rabold won the men's 800 free relay in 7:37.71 with Meichtry leading off in 1:48.86 – among the top 10 200 free times in the world thus far this year. Maria Ugolkova, Laetitia Perez, Fedrigo and Noemie Chenevard won the women's 800 free relay in 8:39.17.
