Swiss Championships: Dominik Meichtry Sets Swiss Record

GENEVA, Switzerland, April 4. DURING the men's 800 free relay, Dominik Meichtry set the Swiss record in the 200 free as the leadoff at the Swiss Championships held in Geneva.

Meichtry clocked a time of 1:47.18 to leadoff the winning time of 7:38.55 from the Wallisellen Swim Club team yesterday. Meichtry then took another run at it when he won the men's 200 free in 1:47.97.

Seraina Pruente followed with a victory in the women's 200 free when she touched out Swann Oberson, 2:02.92 to 2:03.01.

National-record holder Flori Lang earned an easy win in the men's 50 back when he clocked a 26.05, but still finished well short of his standard of 25.18 set at the European Championships. Meanwhile, Melanie Schwieger won the women's 50 back in 30.49.

In the 100 breast, Jonathan Massacand added the title to his 100 back win from a day ago when he touched in 1:04.25. Carmela Schlegel then touched out national-record holder Patrizia Humplik, 1:12.35 to 1:12.48, to win the women's race.

Simon Oberholzer emerged from the men's 200 fly with a win in 2:05.63, while Martina van Berkel took the women's 200 fly title in 2:19.05.
