SwimOutlet.com Launching Gold Medal Delivery at U.S. Masters Nationals

SAN JOSE, INDIANAPOLIS, May 9. AS the Masters swimming community descends on Indianapolis for the USMS Spring Nationals at IUPUI, two Olympic medalists will be in Indy for their very own special participation at Spring Nationals.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Jason Lezak and 2008 Olympic silver medalist teammate Emily Silver will both attend the Spring Nationals social on Saturday night at the Indianapolis Indians' Victory Field to provide a surprise “Gold Medal Delivery” of swimming product from SwimOutlet.com. The delivery is part of SwimOutlet.com's ongoing series of free product deliveries from star athletes to unsuspecting swimmers, clubs, and teams. Other swimming participants in the series have included Ryan Lochte, Matt Grevers, water polo star Tony Azevedo and others. Combined, more than 20 Olympic medals have been won by athletes appearing in the Gold Medal Delivery series.

“Having two Olympians join the fun that is Masters swimming with a SwimOutlet.com delivery and to swim in a relay gives an added incentive to Masters swimmers to know that they are swimming with some of the best,” says SwimOutlet.com CMO Alexander Sienkiewicz. “We're pleased to support such a great event and organization such as USMS.”

The next day, Lezak and Silver will make another “surprise” appearance, arriving at IUPUI Natatorium to swim in a relay. Lezak is legendary for his anchor leg in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, in which he overtook French swimmer Alain Bernard after starting a full body length behind. Lezak touched Bernard out at the wall, swimming the fastest 100-meter split in history and setting the world record for the team by a whopping four seconds. The victory also helped catapult Michael Phelps to a record total of eight gold medals in Beijing; USA Today recently listed the race as the second-best moment in sports that had Americans cheering. Silver won a silver medal with the U.S. women in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle at the Beijing Games.

“It's going to be so much fun for the Masters swimming community to share the pool with Jason and Emily,” says USMS Executive Director Rob Butcher. “Our purpose is encouraging adults to swim and within that spirit is fun, camaraderie, and achieving goals. Jason and Emily share these values, so we're excited that they'll be joining us. We're so fortunate to have SwimOutlet as a partner–this is a real treat for our members.”

“For me, Masters swimming is the perfect outlet for my post-Olympic swimming career,” says Silver. “I can stay fit, train with a team, and be part of a great community of athletes all in one.”
