Swimming World TV Presents: 2013 Speedo Far Western Championships, April 4-7

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 2. SWIMMING World TV is heading to the Bay area this weekend for the 2013 Speedo Far Western Short Course Championships. The meet runs April 4-7, and is hosted by Quicksilver Swimming and co-sponsored by Pacific Swimming, at the world-class Morgan Hill Aquatic Center.

Swimming World TV will be on-deck, live streaming all final sessions through the 2013 Speedo Far Western Short Course Championship event landing page. Prelims will not be streamed live but will be taped for On-Demand viewing along with athlete interviews and daily recaps.

The Far Western Championship meet is consistently one of the fastest age group meets in the country. In its tenth decade, the Far Western Championships saw Olympic and World Champions, including Summer Sanders, Michael Phelps, Janet Evans, Pablo Morales, Natalie Coughlin and Missy Franklin compete in it as age group swimmers.

With a record 1,861 USA Swimming athletes in attendance this year, the meet's nightly awards ceremony will be a can't miss. The presentations have become one of the main draws for swimming fans, especially since the introduction of the celebrity award presenter in 2009. Some of the former presenters include:

U.S. Olympians: Matt Grevers ('08, '12); Tara Kirk ('04); Lynn Vidali ('68 & '72); Pablo Morales ('84 & '92); Dana Vollmer ('04 & '12); Dana Kirk ('04); Maryanne Graham ('76).

Additionally, Natalie Coughlin ('04, '08, '12); Rebecca Soni ('08 & '12) and Missy Franklin ('12) all provided welcome videos for the swimmers at the 2012 Far Western Short Course Championship.

The 2013 Far Western Short Course Championship is set to be bigger and better than previous years, with entries from the Canadian All-Star Team, 15 USA Swimming LSCs, 184 USA Swim Clubs, 1,861 USA Swimming athletes, 7,187 individual entries and 372 relay entries. The meet regularly attracts athletes from across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
