Swimming World Throwback Thursday Video: John Naber Guides USA To Glory in 1976 Olympics

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 2. SWIMMING fans who watched yesterday’s Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on television saw a familiar face interviewing personalities in the parade as part of the event’s staff. Pasadena resident John Naber has been a part of the ABC broadcast team for the Rose parade for many years, working for the same network that aired the 1976 Olympics, where Naber won four gold medals.

Only one of those gold medal swims is available on video on the Internet, so for today’s Throwback Thursday video, we bring you Naber’s leg of the 4×200 freestyle relay in Montreal. (Naber’s leg begins at 5:53. Commentary in Spanish.)
