Swimming World Reviews an Amazing 2007 in January Issue

In the World Swimming section, managing editor Jason Marsteller provides the Year in Review for 2007, which included one of the best meets in history as 15 world records were broken at the 2007 World Championships.

Marsteller also begins a six-part series profiling different the Olympic history and future of various regions throughout the globe. January shines the light on Asia, along with a feature on rising Japanese star Ryosuke Irie. Additionally, Eric Velasquez previews Olympic water polo in the beginning of a four-part series featuring information on the other aquatic sports heading into Beijing.

We also provided the 2007 World Rankings compiled by Nick Thierry and list the National Age Group Top 16 over short course yards.

In SWIM, Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen recollects on times gone by in the swimming community, while editorial intern Emily Sampl features Roque Santos in a Lane Leader column. Susan Ingraham also checks in with a workout card pertaining to training for the USMS One Hour Postal Championships.

In Swimming Technique, Mike Stott once again provides some of the top interviews and information in the business. First, he speaks with Virginia's Mark Bernardino as well as looks at how Pat Mellors trains. Stott also talks to Emory's Jon Howell about season plans for elite sprinters.

Meanwhile, Glenn Mills works with world record holder Brendan Hansen to show how to learn the high-elbow pull.

In Junior Swimmer, we present our standard American Relay look at age group swimming across the nation, while also naming our TYR Age Group Swimmer of the Month.
