Swimming World Presents: Virginia Independent High School State Championships

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 13. THIS Friday and Saturday, February 15 and 16, Swimming World will be live streaming the Virginia Independent High School State Championships, at the Collegiate School Aquatics Center in Richmond, VA.

Swimming World will go live at 9:30 AM and 6:15 PM EST each day for prelims and finals, respectively. Tune in to the EVENT LANDING PAGE for the live stream, or watch the event on your mobile device by downloading the Ustream App and searching for Swimming World.

We will also be bringing you on-demand interviews and recaps.

So what can spectators expect from this weekend's event? First off, the swimmers will be racing in a historic pool. The pool was used as the competition pool in the 2008 US Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. 9 world records and 21 American records have been set in the pool.

In terms of competition, it's looking to be a tight race for the top team spot.

“This will be a very close boys meet this year with about 5-6 teams with a legitimate shot at winning. Individual races on the girl's side will be pretty swift,” meet organizer Mike Stott told Swimming World via e-mail.

Two of the “swift” races on the women's side will be the women's 200 IM and 100 backstroke. Freshman Reni Moshos is seeded first in both events by a considerable margin. It's always exciting when an under classmen fearlessly steps up against their older competition. Stay tuned!

Last year, Collegiate girls won the school's first swim and dive crown since 2004 over second place St. Catherine's. Woodberry Forest took the state title on the boy's side over Hampton Roads Academy.
