Here is a sneak peek at the upcoming edition:

In the World Swimming section, Jason Marsteller takes a look back at the previous year in our annual Year in Review piece, while Stephen J. Thomas, a Swimming World Magazine Australian correspondent, begins a two-part series looking into the top all-time long course meter times. Thomas writes about the men in January, and will focus on the women in February. We also provide the 2006 World Rankings for each event, and name USA's Jessica Long and China's Wang Xiaofu as our Disabled Swimmers of the Year.

In SWIM, we debut our new look under Masters Editor Mark Moore with tips on the mental and physical side of training. Wayne Goldsmith writes about setting high-performance goals, while Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen begins her monthly column called The Pool's Edge. There will be more about Mark Moore and Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen joining the Swimming World Magazine family in a later article on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com.

Additionally, J.R. Rosania offers dryside training tips on injury prevention exercises, while Moore profiles Rich Saeger in a new feature called Lane Leaders. Furthermore, Arizona State University nutrition specialists Kathleen Woolf and Megan St. Thomas write about pre-event meals.

In Swimming Technique, John Lohn features Germantown Academy's Dick Shoulberg, while Michael J. Stott commences a regular column comparing race strategies in various epic battles as well as record-setting performances. This month, Stott spoke with Kate Ziegler and Hayley Peirsol about their 1500 free showdown at Pan Pacs this year. Glenn Mills also advises on open water sighting as well as the continuous-action backstroke turn.

In Junior Swimmer, we highlight Longhorn Aquatics 11-12 Boys 200 meter free relay that set a National Age Group record as well as our Speedo American Relay section with the latest tidbits from across the age group spectrum.
