PHOENIX, Arizona, November 30. EVERY December, Swimming World Magazine devotes an issue to honoring the World and Regional Swimmers of the Year. This year, Americans Missy Franklin and Michael Phelps swept the World and American Swimmers of the Year awards, earning them top billing and the Swimming World Magazine cover.
Every year, the awards are voted on by a panel of international Swimming World correspondents. Watch the following Inside Swimming World Magazine video to hear the regional award winners, along with winners for all the aquatic sports outside of swimming.

As we prepare for the calendar to flip to 2013, thus officially
closing the door on the last year of the Michael Phelps era,
it seems appropriate to bid farewell one more time to the greatest
swimmer the sport has ever known.
