Swimming Runs In The Muhammad Family

Ajeenah Muhammad, 16-year old swimmer for Atlanta’s Dolphins swim team became a double National Junior qualifier last month at the Woodie B. Malone Meet held at the Dynamo Swim Club in Chamblee, Ga. Ajeenah, who almost quit swimming last year because she felt pressure to perform as the sister of American record holder Sabir Muhammad, posted a 24.54 in the 50 yard freestyle (the 8th fastest time in the state this year) and 58.83 in the 100 yard backstroke (the 6th fastest time in the state this year). Dolphins Coach Tommy Jackson who used patience and the gentle prodding of Sabir to help Ajeenah return to the pool said he was not surprised. “Ajeenah has been having some fantastic workouts recently and I knew she would go fast in this meet”, he said.
