Swimming New Zealand Long Course Nationals: Daniel Bell, Lauren Boyle, Glenn Snyders, Natalie Wiegersma Triple

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, April 11. THIS past week, Swimming New Zealand held its Long Course National Championships.

On the women's side, Lauren Boyle and Natalie Wiegersma both completed a title trifecta at the meet. Boyle put together a strong run of freestyle swims with wins in the 200 (1:59.59), 400 (4:11.55) and 800 (8:41.83). Each of these times moved Boyle into the top 25 in the world this year.

Wiegersma, meanwhile, won the 100 fly in 1:00.50, while also topping the 200 IM (2:12.38) and 400 IM (4:41.15). Wiegersma's 200 IM effort moved her to seventh, while her 400 IM put her eighth in the world this year.

Hayley Palmer doubled up in the sprint freestyle events. Palmer topped the 50 in 25.36, while winning the 100 in 55.17. Emily Thomas claimed the 50 (28.39) and 100 (1:01.51) backstroke events.

Alannah Jury (1500 free: 17:07.38), Melissa Ingram (200 back: 2:10.73), Zoe Baker (50 breast: 32.21), Chloe Francis (100 breast: 1:12.73), Natasha Lloyd (200 breast: 2:35.58), Danielle Koni (50 fly: 27.54) and Charlotte Webby (200 fly: 2:13.94) each picked up an individual title from the women's events.

Amongst the men, Daniel Bell swept the backstroke events with triumphs in the 50 (25.40), 100 (54.40) and 200 (1:58.86). The 100 and 200 back are both in the top 10 in the world this year, while the 50 is just outside in 11th. Glenn Snyders also swept a stroke with three wins in the breaststroke. He captured the 50 (28.07), 100 (1:01.56) and 200 (2:13.55), each time among the top 15 in the world so far. Moss Burmester took home the 100 (53.69) and 200 (1:57.43) fly events as the only other multiple winner on the men's side.

Orinoco Faamausili Banse (50 free: 23.14), Carl O'Donnell (100 free: 50.56), Andrew McMillan (200 free: 1:50.91), Kane Radford (800 free: 8:16.56), Corney Swanepoel (50 fly: 24.37), Steven Kent (200 IM: 2:05.27) and Brett Newall (400 IM: 4:28.32) earned the other men's titles on offer.
