Swim Camp of the Week: Hartwick College Swim Camp

Hartwick College Swim Camp

Twice a week over the next few months, Swimming World Magazine will feature a camp specializing in teaching swimmers how to improve their technique, swim faster and have fun with some of the biggest names in swimming. Motivation is the part of every package! Programs may include day and overnight camps as well as distance and stroke specialization. Today, we are featuring Hartwick College Swim Camp.

The summer swim camp at Hartwick College is an extensive program for ages 8-18 emphasizing improvement in the fundamental skills of competitive swimmers and divers. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions will balance time with water and dry-land training. Above and underwater filming and analysis is also included. Lectures on nutrition, mental preparation, strength training, etc, will be a part of the camper’s daily schedule.

The sprint/distance camp emphasizes conditioning and proper training of the major energy systems. The diving camp concentrates on technical improvement on 1- and 3-meter springboard diving. The stroke camp enables competitive swimmers to develop skills and techniques in starts, turns, IM, and competitive strokes. Special two and three-week sessions are available.

Director Dale Rothenberger, Hartwick swimming and diving coach, will be joined by a staff of highly experienced coaches, counselors and guest clinicians (1:6 staff-camper ratio). Enrollment limit guarantees individual attention and frequent feedback.
