Swim British Columbia Names Mark Schuett Executive Director

VICTORIA, British Columbia, July 11. SWIM BC (British Columbia) announced that Mark J. Schuett will be the new Executive Director of Swim BC, effective Sept. 1, 2007. He replaces Mark Hahto, who will be moving to Swimming Canada as its Chief Operating Officer.

Schuett studied Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia. He is returning to the sport of swimming after competing as a 12 & under swimmer with Prince George Barracudas.

Schuett started his career by building a ski club from scratch then coached the Alberta Provincial Team and National Development Team for the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association. This was followed by a three-year stint on the Olympic Coaching staff for the US Ski Team, leading up to and after the Salt Lake Olympics.

Schuett has recently developed long-term athlete development plans for the sport of skiing and is looking forward to the challenge of implementing similar ideas in a new sport.

"I am very excited to be a part of Swim BC and hope to use my experience with sport models throughout the world to add to the continued success in the sport of swimming," Schuett said.

Special thanks to Swim BC for contributing this report.
