Sun Yang Earns Male World Swimmer of the Year December SW Magazine

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 3. THE December issue of Swimming World Magazine is now available for download for Total Access Subscribers!

Every year, Swimming World Magazine uses the December issue to name the World and Regional Swimmers of the Year. This year Chinese Olympian Sun Yang earns Swimming World’s Male Swimmer of the Year for his 400, 800 and 1500 meter freestyle victories at the 2013 Barcelona World Championships.

Yang beat out USA’s Ryan Lochte, South Africa’s Chad le Clos, Brazil’s Cesar Cielo and France’s Yannick Agnel for the 2013 title with 17 first-place votes from Swimming World Magazine’s panel of experts. Yang is the first man from China to win Swimming World’s World Swimmer of the Year award!

Yang also earned Swimming World’s Male Pacific Rim Swimmer of the Year as part of our regional voting, ahead of Australia’s Christian Sprenger and James Magnusson, Japan’s Daiya Seto and Japan’s Kosuke Hagino.
