Streamlined News: YMCA Nationals Recap; Judo Player Calls Out Michael Phelps

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 24. THE YMCA long course national championships is underway in Atlanta, Georgia, and the first night featured the mile for men and women. Verity Abel won the women's event in 17:04.2, while Sava Turcanu took the men's event in 16:08.23, just a hair ahead of Matthew Moen and Bradley Wachenfeld. The Wilton Wahoos lead the team race after the first day by 26 points.

Another athlete is calling out Michael Phelps, not for what he does or doesn't do in the pool, but for his actions out of the pool. In an interview posted today on Yahoo Sports, judo player Ronda Rousey said Phelps didn't take part in the party held for American athletes at the Beijing Olympics, choosing instead to sit in a corner of the room with his entourage. Rousey won a bronze medal in judo in 2008 and is now a mixed martial arts fighter.
