Streamlined News: US National Age Group Records Fall; Olympic Swimmers Arrive in London

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 23. A few national age group records fell last weekend all over the United States, as young swimmers competed in championship meets. Carson Foster of the Cincinnati Marlins was the highlight, breaking two individual and one relay record in the 10-and-under age group over the past two weeks. It started with a 30.26 in the 50 fly at a qualifying meet in Ohio on July 10, then Foster kept lowering the record at the Ohio Junior Olympics with a 30.18 in prelims and a 29.91 in finals, the first 10-and-under to break 30. The next day, Foster swam a 1:07.24 in the prelims of the 100 fly, breaking the only Michael Phelps national age group record in that age group. Foster also helped his team set a 200 medley relay record with a 2:18.89.

Penn Charter Aquatic Club got in on the record-breaking action last weekend as well, swimming a 4:22.44 in the boys 400 medley relay, breaking the national age group record in the 11-12 age group.
