Stanford Recruit Honored by USA Today and America’s Dairy Farmers

CHICAGO, Ill, June 23. STANFORD swimming recruit, Desiree Stahley, has been recognized as one of the nation's top 25 scholar/athletes of the year by USA Today and America's Dairy Farmers.

Stahley appeared in USA Today in a "milk mustache ad" this past weekend, and was inducted into Disney's Wide World of Sports Hall of Fame for her achievements in the pool and classroom. Chosen from a field of over 52,000 applicants, she will appear in more milk mustache ads in this week's editions of Sports Illustrated and ESPN Magazine.

Stahley, valedictorian of her class, a Florida swimming state champion, and one of the youngest Olympic Trials qualifiers in 2000, was also named a Coca Cola Scholar this year, a national finalist in the AAU Athlete Excel Program, and a state finalist for Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Fellow Stanford swimming alum and Olympic gold medalist, Summer Sanders was present to honor Desiree at the SAMMY Awards Banquet at Walt Disney World.
