Stanford Men’s Swimming Signs Eight Swimmers

STANFORD, California, June 20. STANFORD men's swimming signed eight recruits (seven swimmers and one diver) to join the Cardinal this fall, announced head coach Skip Kenney. Jake Allen, Joshua Charnin-Aker, John Criste, Brent Eichenseer, Scotty Korotkin, Chad La Tourette, David Mosko, Austin Staab will all head to The Farm as members of the Class of 2011.

Allen is a three-time high school MVP and a three-time high school section champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle. He is also the high school section record holder in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Jake is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, and an A. Dale Lacky/GMC Scholar Athlete Award winner.

Charnin-Aker, the Peddie School team captain, is a Senior National qualifier in the 200 and 400 IM, as well as the Peddie School record holder in the 400 IM. He is a National Merit Scholar and appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy Kids Week.

Christe was a 2005 National Junior Team member and is the California high school record holder in the 100 breaststroke. He is also a 2007 high school section champion in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. John is a four-time California Honor Society member and a two-time high school Scholar-Athlete.

Eichenseer was the state runner-up at the high school championships, and third at the National Junior Olympics on the one meter springboard. He was also the Wendy Wyland Invitational three meter open champion. Brent was named as his high school valedictorian and was recognized as an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors.

Korotkin is a two-time high school All-American in the 500 freestyle. He is an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 1500 freestyle, as well as a Junior National finalist in the 800 and 1500 freestyle. Scotty is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and a four-time scholastic All-American.

La Tourette was the 2007 Spring National Champion in the 1500 freestyle and a High School All-American. He was also the 2005 World Championship Trials "Rookie of the Meet." Chad is an Academic All-American, in addition to being a College Board Advanced Placement Scholar.

Mosko is a high school state champion in the 100 fly, 200 freestyle, and 500 freestyle. He is the Ohio high school record holder in the 500 freestyle, and a two-time Junior National champion in the 200 fly. David is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and a Fredrick Douglass/Susan B. Anthony Award winner.

Staab was named the Ohio high school Swimmer of the Year in 2006 and 2007. He is an Ohio high school champion in the 100 fly (twice) and the 100 freestyle (twice), as well as being the National high school record holder in the 100 fly. Austin is a NISCA Academic All-American, and a member of the National Honor Society.
