St. Olaf Sweeps Gustavus Adolphus

NORTHFIELD, Minnesota, November 10. SOPHOMORE Nelson Westby broke a pool record in the 200 IM and won two other events in St. Olaf's 172-128 win over Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday at Skoglund Natatorium. A disqualification on the meet's final relay gave the St. Olaf women's swimming and diving team a 159-141 win over Gustavus. Gustavus appeared to have sealed a 150-150 tie with win in the 400 freestyle relay, but the Gusties' celebration in the pool came before the last team had finished.

In men's action, Westby won the 100 fly, 200 IM and was a part of another pool record when the Oles' 200 medley relay notched a 1:34.11, which is an NCAA "B" cut time. Adam Meyer, Ben Wareham and Jake Koch joined Westby on the relay. Westby's 200 IM time was a "B" cut time as well.

Meyer won 200 back and collected a "B" cut time of his own with a 52.41 win in the 100 back.

Tom Kukla also picked up a "B" but time with a second place finish in the 100 back, .32 seconds behind Meyer.

Koch won the 50 and 100 free with times of 21.14 and 47.78.

For the women, the Oles' Mikayla Meyer won three events – the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle.

Kelly Dolan added wins in the 200 and 500 IM and the 500 free.

Aly Jansen picked up a victory in the 200 butterfly, Marcie Dierks in the 200 back and Julie Rood in the 100 butterfly.
