St. Cloud Takes Top Spot In Meet Against MSU Moorhead And Northern Michigan

ST. CLOUD, Minnesota, October 19. IN their first meet of the season the women's swimming and diving squad was in midseason form taking first place in 12 of 13 events in day one of their dual with MSU Moorhead and Northern Michigan. As a team SCSU beat MSUM by a score of 154.00-84.00 and they topped Northern Michigan 165.00-68.00.

Caitlin Digney (Madison, Wis.) Sarah Burnell (Oshkosh, Wis) Kelsey Berkeland (Coon Rapids) and Elizabeth Lopez (Allen, Texas) led the way for the Huskies each finishing with two individual first place finishes on the evening. SCSU took top honors in nine of the individual races and in each relay. Along with that the Huskies brought home five second place finishes, one of which being the only event the Huskies did not win the 200 yard breaststroke.

Lopez was also a member of the first place 400 yard medley relay team to give her three total wins for the meet. Kelly Vieau (Delano) and Alisha Blaydes (Elk River) also added a relay win each to finish with two wins total.

Berkeland swept the diving events winning each the one and three-meter boards and Digney cruised to victory in her two wins taking the 1650 yard freestyle by a 45 second margin and the 200 yard butterfly by a 10 second margin.
