Speedo Top 40 Tournament will Feature America’s Finest Female Water Polo Players

LOS ALAMITOS, California, October 16. NEXT month, 40 of the finest female water polo players in the nation will gather at the National Team Training Center for the Speedo Top 40 Tournament. The event is an all-star type competition with the 40 players split into four teams. The event will include Olympians, National Team members and Olympic hopefuls.

Scheduled for November 5-6, the tournament will allow for the evaluation of talent for future competitions, including the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Taking part will be Jackie De Luca, the primary goalie for the United States at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. De Luca is returning to action after taking a year off to give birth.

Although the tournament will feature many of America’s best players, it will be missing a handful of prominent names. Brenda Villa, Ericka Lorenz and Heather Petri will bypass the two-day affair while playing professional ball in Italy.
