Speedo Performance of the Week, Presented by Pace Club: May 14, 2013

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 14. RECORDS were being broken left and right in high school and Masters swimming last weekend, and several of the country's best swimmers were in action at the Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte. A lot of options for us to pick from for the Speedo Performance of the Week.

In the end, we couldn't ignore the first of three national high school records broken this weekend. Ella Eastin swam a 1:55.15 in the 200 IM at the California Division 3 southern section championships, breaking Kaitlyn Jones' independent high school record by more than a second, a record that had been previously held by Missy Franklin. Eastin's swim was more remarkable in the fact that she was racing with a sinus infection, never a good thing for a swimmer at a championship meet, and she is only a sophomore. That means we could see more record-breaking feats by Eastin in the coming years as she attempts to get closer to Dagny Knutson's overall national record of 1:53.82.
