SPEEDO Champions Sectional Series Rolls On in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland. March 17. YOUNG torpedos hit the water at the United States Naval Academy on Fridy for the SPEEDO Champions Series Eastern Zone Southern Regional.

In the 200 freestyle, Megan Steeves domintated the field with a swift 1:50.45. For the men, Ryan Shea won the event with a solid performance of 1:41.03.

The closest event of the evening came in the 100 breaststroke. Sam Gelb and Kelly Peloquin went head-to-head. Sam narrowly touched out Kelly with a 1:04.33 over Peloquin's 1:04.44. On the Men's side, Michael Polino took the 100 breaststroke with a solid 57.89.

In the 100 butterfly, Anne Marie Botek flew to a swift 55.50 obliterating the rest of the field. Brad Reitz won the event for the men in 51.59.

Sam Gelb won her second event of the evening in the 400 I.M. Her time of 4:21.39 is a Junior National qualifying time.

Another close race came down to the wire in the Men's 400 Individual Medley. Fifteen year old, Austin Surhoff outtouched Billy Vey in the final. Surhoff's time of 3:59.95 was just under Vey's time of 4:00.32.
