Southwest Classic Invitational: Meagen Nay Shines Again, Six Golds So Far

TUCSON, Arizona, June 6. MEAGEN Nay has been the star of the show at the Southwest Classic Invitational so far. Tonight, she added to last night's three gold medals with another three top times as the long course meter meet.

Australia went 1-2 in the women's 200 free as Nay continued her strong meet in Tucson. She clocked a 1:59.25 for the win, while teammate Stephanie Rice placed second in 2:01.31. Ford's Leone Vorster wound up third in 2:02.09.

Nay won her fifth gold medal of the meet with a 1:01.61 in the women's 100 back. Ford's Ana Agy finished second in 1:02.85, while Vorster took third again with a 1:06.28.

Australia kept on rolling in the women's 200 breast with a 1-2 effort. Leisel Jones cruised with a 2:25.86 for the win, while Sarah Katsoulis placed second in 2:29.08. Ford's Julie Stupp took third in 2:33.94.

Rice gave Australia another victory with a 2:15.54 in the women's 200 IM, an event in which she holds the world record. Ford's Whitney Myers (2:17.90) and Ford's Stupp (2:18.73) rounded out the top three.

Nay collected her second straight title trifecta of the meet as Nay, Belinda Parslow, Katie Goldman and Rice won the women's 800 free relay in 8:15.94. The victory gave Nay her sixth title in two days.

Australia swept the top five spots in the men's 200 free. Kenrick Monk topped the finale in 1:49.10, while Nicholas Ffrost touched second in 1:49.35. Ryan Napoleon (1:49.52), Robert Hurley (1:49.61) and Patrick Murphy (1:49.85) took the rest of the top five under 1:50.

Ashley Delaney won a showdown with Matt Grevers, the Olympic silver medalist in the men's 100 back, in that event. Delaney clocked a 53.72 with Grevers placing second in 55.35. Hayden Stoeckel picked up third in 56.51.

Australia won another title as Brenton Rickard posted a 2:13.22 in the men's 200 breast. Teammate Jeremy Meyer claimed second in 2:15.96. Ford's Jack Brown completed the top three in 2:19.01.

Brown, however, stopped Australia from a clean gold-medal sweep on the night with a 2:03.46 in the men's 200 IM. Australia's Stephen Parkes (2:05.04) and Thomas Fraser-Holmes (2:05.05) finished second and third.

Australia's Murphy, Hurley, Ffrost and Monk concluded the night with a 7:20.55 to win the men's 800 free relay.
