SMU Classic, Day One

DALLAS, Texas, January 15. THE No. 26 SMU men’s swim team is in second place after day one of the Classic at SMU, held Friday evening at the Perkins Natatorium. The Mustangs scored 146 points on the night, just 15 behind No. 7 Michigan.

Matthew Culbertson led the way for the host squad, earning a win in the 1M event after earning a score of 369.05. Tom Cole also turned in a strong performance winning the 100 yard breaststroke by .03 hundredths of a second, edging USC’s Dill Connolly by a time of 54.95 compared to 54.98. Thomas Fadnes won his heat in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing in just 20.68 seconds.

The Classic at SMU will wrap up on Saturday evening at Perkins Natatorium, beginning at 7:30. Full results will be made available on smumustangs.com at the conclusion of the event.
