Scottsdale’s Ryan Hoffer Lowers 50 Free National Age Group Record

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, December 3. RYAN Hoffer, a former Age Group Swimmer of the Month in Swimming World Magazine, took down a national age group record in the 13-14 age group over the weekend with a swift time in the 50-yard freestyle.

Hoffer, representing Scottsdale Aquatic Club, posted a 20.78 at the Gulf Coast championships in prelims on Saturday, erasing Kyle Bubolz's record of 20.79 set in 2001. In finals, Hoffer won the event with a 20.45.

In Sunday's prelims, Hoffer led qualifiers in the 100 freestyle with a 45.79, which puts a scare into Edward Kim's two-year-old national age group record of 45.21. Hoffer did not compete in the 100 free final.
