Sarah Sjostrom Snares 5th Title of Swedish Summer Nationals

Sarah Sjostrom won her fifth title of the meet with a sizzling 50 fly at the Swedish Summer Championships.

Sjostrom clocked a time of 25.07, half-a-second off her world best of 24.69 from the Eindhoven Swim Cup.  That was more than enough for her fifth victory, considering Magdalena Kuras placed second in 27.24.  My Fridell took third in 27.91.

Sjostrom then split a 55.62 butterfly split for Sodertorns fourth-place time of 4:14.86 in the women’s 400-meter medley relay.  Helsingborgs won in 4:09.50.

Christoffer Carlsen picked up the men’s 50-meter free title in 23.19.  Oscar Ekstrom finished second in 23.30 with Petter Stymne earning third in 23.54.

Jennie Johansson, who is ranked 12th in the world in the 100-meter breast with a 1:07.19, took that event’s title tonight in 1:07.40.  Sophie Hansson finished second in 1:09.00 with Vilma Ekstrom taking third in 1:10.86.

Mattias Carlsson won the men’s 200-meter back in a time of 2:02.09.  Petter Fredriksson placed second in 2:03.22 with Fabian Bergman earning third in 2:04.74.

Ekstrom collected his second medal of the night with a 53.78 to win the men’s 100-meter fly.  Alexander Nystrom placed second in 54.47 with Jesper Jonsson taking third in 54.88.

Henriette Stenkvist tops women’s 400-meter free in 4:17.84.  Erica Dahlgren tied Frida Berggren for second with matching 4:22.25s.

Victor Johansson won the men’s 800-meter free in 8:15.11, while Christopher Jedel took second in 8:18.22.  Simon Plato wound up third in 8:23.66.
