Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom picked up where she left off a few months ago at Worlds as she is in record-setting form at the 2015 Swedish Short Course Nationals.

Sjostrom powered her way to a 51.24 record in the 100-meter freestyle as a leadoff for the fourth-place Sodertorns SS team in the women’s 400-meter free relay that finished with a 3:42.06.

Sjostrom split the leadoff 24.77, 51.24.

That performance lowered her previous effort of 51.32 set during the 2014 Swedish Short Course Nationals shortly before she set the world record in the 200 free and 100 fly at the 2014 World Short Course Championships.

She’s one of several record setters so far this week in Sweden.

Louise Hansson took away one of Sjostrom’s national records with a 2:06.29 in the women’s 200-meter IM, smashing Sjostrom’s previous time of 2:08.17 from 2012.  Hansson’s time would have ranked her fourth in the world last year.

Hansson also took down a junior record in the women’s 100-meter IM with a 58.77, breaking the 58.78 set by Sjostrom in 2013.

Erik Persson clocked a 2:06.46 in the men’s 200-meter breast to lower his previous national mark of 2:07.07 from 2013.

Kristian Kron put up a 7:49.83 in the men’s 800-meter free to break the Swedish record of 7:53.78 set by Adam Paulsson in 2014. Victor Johansson one-upped Kron during the fastest heat of timed finals with a 7:47.70.

Junior Records:

  • Adam Paulsson set a junior record in the 400-meter free with a 3:45.98.
  • Sophie Hansson set a junior record in the 100-meter breast with a 1:05.28.
