Saint Cloud State vs. Minnesota State Mankato

ST. CLOUD, Minnesota, October 23. THE St. Cloud State men's and women's swimming & diving team beat Minnesota State University, Mankato 306 to 178, after winning 18 of 26 events Saturday night in the team's final home event of 2010.

The Huskies won three of four relay events that included the both the 200-medley relays and the women's 400-freestyle, while also winning 15 individual events. The men won 141 to 100, while the women beat the Mavericks 165 to 78.

"We're very pleased with how our swimmers and divers competed today. The depth on our women's team was really on display. We were anticipating a really close meet on the men's side, but things seemed to go just right for us," said head coach Jeff Hegle about Saturday's performance.

Sophomore Dayna Nellis (Green Bay, Wis.) won multiple events for the second straight week, taking home a win in the 500 and 1000 freestyle with times of 5:20.57 and 10:58.52 respectfully.

Sophomore Luke Weber (Mankato) also won multiple events Saturday winning the 1-Meter dive with a score of 295.70 and the 3-Meter dive with a final tally of 309.90.

Other winners in Saturday's event on the men's side include Joe Palmersten (St. Cloud) in the 1000 free (10:25.63), Ryan Goggans (Appleton, Wis.) in the 500 freestyle (5:03.59).

Junior Robb Rotramel (Ramsey) recorded a win in the 50 freestyle event with an event time of :22.62 and Napoleon Howell (St. Augustine, Trinidad) won the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.02.

On the women's side, junior Kirsten Koetter (Melrose) won the 50 free with a time of :25.01, freshman Jasmine Lee (Green Bay, Wis.) won the 200 IM (2:11.08), senior Cassie Mrozek (Inver Grove Heights) took a win in the 1-Meter dive (247.20)

Sophomore Ali Domeier (St. Cloud) came out on top in the 100 freestyle (:54.10), junior Alli Tracy (Minot, N.D.) won the 3-Meter dive (251.75) and junior Amber Alexander (Minot, N.D.) posted a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.86).
