CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, October 3. ALTHOUGH it has been a known plan since the end of July, news broke today by the Charlotte Observer that the plan is coming to fruition with Ryan Lochte moving his training base to SwimMAC.
Scott Fowlker of the Charlotte Observer reported today that the planned move is actually taking place at this time.
“I’m still going to have a place (in Gainesville), because no matter what I do, Troy’s going to be my coach,” Lochte told the Daytona Beach News-Journal on July 29. “That will never change. But I’m going to try different atmospheres, different coaches, different people to swim against. I think that will be really exciting for me. [SwimMAC has] a bunch of really great swimmers out there and a great coach, just like Troy.”
Lochte will room with his friend Cullen Jones, and will train with what is becoming a dynamic post-grad team that includes Kirsty Coventry, Lauren Perdue, Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace and Dax Hill.
There are also still potential plans for Lochte to make training camp trips throughout the world, including Australia, as he attempt to freshen up his training regimen heading into the 2016 Rio Olympics.
