Ryan Hoffer Sets Up Potentially Special 100 Free at West Juniors

Scottsdale’s Ryan Hoffer could be looking at a special swim in the men’s 100-yard free tonight after a scorcher in prelims at the 2015 USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals West.

Women’s 200 back

Scottsdale’s Taylor Ruck, a 15-year-old Canadian citizen, topped qualifying in 1:54.38. Fellow 15 year old Rhyan White of Wasatch Front took second in 1:55.29 with Nitro’s Regan Barney qualifying third in 1:56.57.

Ozaukee’s Katie Drabot, who has been dominant so far this week with a handful of junior titles, paced qualifying in the 100 free with a 49.05.  North Bay’s Miki Dahlke qualified second in 49.45 with Scottsdale’s Taylor Ruck earning the third seed in 49.50 just after leading the 200 back prelims.

Scottsdale’s Ryan Hoffer set himself up for a special swim tonight with a 43.48 to lead the way.  He will be gunning for Caeleb Dressel’s 17-18 U.S. National Age Group mark of 41.90 tonight.  Iowa Flyer’s Mark McGlaughlin qualified second in 43.69 with Nitro’s Corban Rawls earning third in 44.48.
