Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, Day One

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado, February 11. FOLLOWING day one of action at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, the Incarnate Word men hold the lead with 247.50 points followed closely by Grand Canyon (218). Texas-Permian Basin sits in third with 163.50 and is followed by Mesa State (147) and Colorado Mines (141).

On the women's side, Grand Canyon holds a 250-230 lead over Incarnate Word. Mesa State (164) sits in third followed by Minnesota-Moorhead (131), Texas-Permian Basin (80), Northern State (79), Colorado Mines (61), Nebraska-Kearney (46) and Adams State (42).

Despite sitting in second place, the Incarnate Word women won three of the five events on Thursday. Texas A&M transfer Casey Hurrell-Zitelman grabbed the 200 IM in 2:01.53, an eight-plus second victory. Tamiris Nascimento took the 50 free in 23.38 for Word while the Word 400 medley relay won in 3:51.47. Grand Canyon won both the 200 free relay (1:35.33) and the 500 free (Inha Kotsur, 5:01.72).

On the men's side, Grand Canyon swept both relays winning both the 200 free (1:21.41) and the 400 medley (3:22.23). Incarnate Word's Conrado Chede won the 500 free (4:37.68) while teammate Nikita Belousov won the 200 IM (1:51.78). Michael Branning led a 1-2-3-4 GCU sweep by taking the top spot in 20.41.
