Rikako Ikee Tracks Down 50 Fly Meet Record in Semis at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Japan’s Rikako Ikee tracked down the women’s 50-meter fly meet record in the semifinal heats at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Ikee clocked a top time of 26.30 to lead the way as she lowered the previous record of 26.32 set by Svetlana Chimrova in Dubai in 2013.

That performance just missed the World Junior record of 26.26 set by Rozaliya Nasretdinova at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Russia’s Mariia Kameneva qualified second in 26.59 to win the first semifinal, while Australia’s Lucia Lassman wound up tied for third overall with Canada’s Penny Oleksiak with matching 26.80s.

China’s Wang Jingzhuo (26.84), Australia’s Gemma Cooney (26.91), Hungary’s Szonja Szokol (27.00) and Slovakia’s Barbora Misendova (27.02) also made their way into the finals.
