Rhode Island Women’s Swimming Defeats Springfield 151-149

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., November 1. THE Rhode Islands women's swim team came out on top in a close. The Rhodys won by just two points for a final score of 151-149. Junior Cassie Mizia and sophomore Kelsey Foy each won two events in the Rams victory over Springfield College Saturday. Sophomore Martha Ziolkowski also recorded a first place finish for Rhody.

Mizia finished first in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles with times of 55.29 and 2:01.11 respectively and in the 200 yard medley relay (1:55.90) along with Martha Ziolkowski, Jennifer McGlauflin and Alexia Pool. Ziolkowski also won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:13.97.

Foy placed first in the 500 (5:13.97) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:45.31) for the Rams. The 200-yard freestyle relay team including Mizia, Maura Zaneski, Tracey Cannon, and Julie Kent also placed first in a time of 1:41.88.

Next up on Rhody's schedule is a 12:30 p.m. match at Fordham University on Saturday, November 18.
