Results, Poll of the Week: Who Should Win for Best Race of the Year?

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 2. LAST week we had a lot of voters weigh in on our poll asking which male American should win the Golden Goggle Award for best race of the year, but it was an overwhelming majority selection for Nathan Adrian's 100 freestyle from the London Olympics with 63.11 percent. Michael Phelps' 200 IM win in London was second with 18.45 percent, while Ryan Lochte's 400 IM gold medal swim in the Olympics was third with 11.65 percent. Matt Grevers' 100 back and Tyler Clary's 200 back rounded out the voting with 5 and 2 percent.

This week we're moving on to the Golden Goggles category of female athlete of the year, and the choices are very similar to our poll from two weeks ago looking at the female race of the year. Your choices for the Golden Goggle Award for American female athlete of the year are Missy Franklin, who won five medals in London; Allison Schmitt, who also won five Olympic medals; Rebecca Soni, who collected three medals; and Dana Vollmer, the winner of three Olympic medals. To cast your vote in our poll, go to USA Swimming's website to cast your official vote for the Golden Goggle Awards, which will be handed out November 19.
