Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Set to Return in April

FT. WORTH – The world’s only professional cliff diving competition, Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, will return to Hell’s Gate in Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas, on May 30. The event will see world-class athletes completing breathtaking dives from 90 feet high, while reaching speeds of 50 mph, and performing complex maneuvers in the three seconds it takes to hit the water.

In what will be the third stop of this year’s Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, top male and female divers will compete for the chance stand atop the Texas podium. Each stop in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will air in the U.S. as a full-length broadcast on FOX Sports 1, with television times to be announced soon.

Rachelle “Rocco” Simpson will return to her home state of Texas to defend her crown in the first women’s stop of the year. Thousands of spectators are expected by watercraft to see the San Antonio native defend her win from last year at Possum Kingdom Lake, which propelled her on the path to win the inaugural 2014 Women’s World title.

In addition to the Texas stop, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, now in its seventh season, will visit a wide range of beautiful venues this year, both natural and urban, in eight competitions to crown a new champion.

Colombia and Bosnia are new to the calendar this year in a schedule that has divers travelling all over the globe to exotic locales. The remaining stops between April and September include France, Portugal, Italy, and the final showdown in Bilbao, Spain.

Since 2009, the sport’s top athletes and emerging young talent have been performing awe-inducing feats, with leaps from almost three times the Olympic platform height with no protection at all, except their concentration, skill and physical control.

As a Red Bull Original Sport, the Cliff Diving World Series airs on FOX Sports 1 as part of a stunning global sports series that also includes the Crashed Ice World Championships, Air Race World Championship and X-Fighters World Tour.
