Rapsys, Labanauskaite Down Lithuanian National Records

KAUNAS, Lithuania, June 28. TWO Lithuanian records fell during the Lithuanian National Championships held in Kaunas this week.

Danas Rapsys took down his own Lithuanian record in the men’s 200-meter free with a winning time of 1:49.23. That swim clipped the 1:49.50 he had already posted in February 2013. Rapsys also set a meet record in the men’s 100-meter back with a 55.43, as well as a meet-record 1:59.43 in the men’s 200-meter back. Additionally, Rapsys took second to Uvis Kalnins in the 200-meter IM, 2:01.53 to 2:06.81.

Meanwhile, Vikte Labanauskaite crushed the Lithuanian record in the women’s 400-meter IM. She topped the distance medley with a time of 5:04.85. That performance lopped nearly four seconds from the previous record of 5:08.25 set by Alina Taran in June 2013. She also took fourth in the 100-meter breast with a 1:12.86, and third in the 200 breast with a 2:34.45.

Eva Gliozeryte might not have set a national record, but she had a strong three-gold meet in Lithuania. She tied Ugne Mazutaityte for the women’s 100-meter back crown with a 1:04.63, and also won the 50-meter free in 26.25 before sweeping the sprint frees with a 57.25 in the 100-meter free. She also took second to Mazutaityte in the 50-meter back, 30.17 to 30.40.
