With this being Michael Phelps’ second meet in his comeback campaign, Tiffany Elias and Jeff Commings ponder how he’ll perform in Charlotte, with the expectation that he’ll choose to race the 200 freestyle over the 100 butterfly on Friday.

Other big names besides Phelps will be in Charlotte, though Ryan Lochte will not be racing. Some of his teammates at SwimMAC Carolina will swim, including Nick Thoman, who will race for the first time since dislocating his shoulder in February. Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu will be a force in multiple events, while Jessica Hardy could rule in sprint freestyle and breaststroke.
