NEW COMMIT: Cathy Teng, a member of the Santa Clara Swim Club High Performance Group, has announced her verbal commitment to the application process at Princeton University. Teng is a senior at Archbishop Mitty.

A freestyler, Teng was a World Championship Trials qualifier and the 2017 CIF Central Coast Section Champion in both the 100 and 200 freestyle. She was also recently a participant at USA Swimming’s National Select Camp.

A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American, Teng’s top times include:

  • 200 Free 1:46.31
  • 100 Free 49.43
  • 200 Fly 2:01.03
  • 100 Fly 55.15

Her 200 free is certainly her best event. At the 2017 Ivy League Championships Teng would have touched third in that event. She also would have been fourth in the 100 free with her best time.

She told Swimming World,

“I chose Princeton because of its excellent academics and swimming program! I felt right at home with the team on my recruiting trip and absolutely fell in love with the campus and student activities while I was there. I am so thankful to be able to continue my swimming career and to study at one of the best universities in the world! Go Tigers!”

*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
