Poll of the Week: Will Dara Torres Qualify For Her Sixth Olympic Team?

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 8. RECENTLY we learned of two swimmers from Turkey and Sweden who just earned the distinction of being the first swimmers in history to qualify for six Olympic Games. In a couple of weeks at the U.S. Olympic Trials, Dara Torres will try to join this elite group when she races in the 50 free. We want to know if you think she will make history and qualify for the London Olympics. Just go to swimmingworldmagazine.com/poll and vote yes or no. We'll let you know how the voting turned out on next week's show.

In the past few months two cities — Greensboro, North Carolina, and Jacksonville, Florida, have made their intentions known about wanting to host the 2016 Olympic Trials, and in our recent Poll of the Week asking which of those cities, as well as current host Omaha, would be the ideal location, it appears Jacksonville got their community behind them with a staggering 92 percent of the votes. Greensboro was second with 2.6 percent and Omaha was in third place with 1.9 percent. We gave voters an option to pick “Other,” and that option got 2.8 percent. We won't know who gets the duty of hosting the 2016 Olympic Trials until next year, but we wanted to get the preliminary pulse of the country.
