Poll of the Week: Picking Winner of SEC Women’s Title (Results)

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 19. THE Southeastern conference swimming and diving championships are underway at the University of Georgia, and the women’s team race could be a close one. We asked you a couple of weeks ago which of the following three teams will win the overall title, and with 58.71 percent of votes, Georgia seems to be the public favorite for yet another conference victory. Pretty far behind in second was Florida with 23.23 points, followed by Texas A&M with 18.06 points. After one day of competition, it is Georgia in the lead with a pretty big cushion going into the next four days of racing.

For the past six months, much of the conversation in swimming circles has revolved around Michael Andrew’s decision to become a professional at 14 years old. Andrew has certainly been no slouch in the water, setting national age group records nearly every time he dives into the pool. But is that too young for an athlete to become a professional? The next oldest after him is Michael Phelps, who was 16 when he turned pro.
