Perhaps it’s no surprise that Katie Ledecky’s 1500 freestyle world record at the Pan Pacific championships won the voting by a large margin, with 57 percent of voters picking it as the most impressive swim. And having seen it firsthand, I can’t really disagree. Coming in second in the poll was Ledecky’s 400 freestyle world record with 23 percent. Katinka Hosszu set five world records in the span of four days in the opening two meets of the FINA World Cup, and her 200 IM from Qatar got 13 percent of the votes, while her 400 IM performance got just 5 percent. Great job to both of these ladies on some thrilling performances.

Let’s stay with the Pan Pacific championships for our next poll question. Within the four-year Olympic cycle, we wanted to know how you think the Pan Pacs fits in the schedule in terms of priority level. Do you think athletes and coaches put a high priority on the meet, or is it a low priority within the quadrennial calendar? To place your vote, go to swimmingworld.com and pick one of the options in the poll on the right side of the page. We’ll bring you the results on our next show.
