Poll of the Week: Golden Goggle Perseverance Nominees (Results)

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 28. OUR poll questions for the past few weeks have featured categories from the upcoming Golden Goggle Awards that honor the best from USA Swimming this past year. In our last poll question, we wanted to know who you believed deserved the Perseverance Award. It was one of our closest poll results yet, which hopefully will translate over to the actual tabulation of votes for this award. Elizabeth Pelton won the most votes in our poll, getting 28.95 percent of the votes. Right behind her in second was Megan Romano, who got 28.07 percent. Eugene Godsoe was third with 22.81 percent and David Plummer rounded out the voting with 20.18 percent. I told you it was close.

Based on comments I’ve read in the months since the world championships, I’m not sure voting will be very close in our newest poll, but maybe I’ll be proven wrong. This week, we want to know who you think should win the Female Race of the Year? We have three swimmers, and four choices all from the world championships. Is it Haley Anderson and her 5K gold medal in open water, Missy Franklin’s 200 free gold medal swim, or is it Katie Ledecky’s 800 free win or her 1500 free win?

To vote in our poll, go to our home page at swimmingworld.com. You’ll find the poll on the right side of the page. We will bring you the results of this new poll question on next week’s show. And after you vote, please go to usaswimming.org/goldengoggles to place your actual vote in the eight Golden Goggle categories.
